Do you ever wonder why it is that you can’t stand the sound of your own recorded voice?
In fact the first time you heard it you might have been shocked, right?
Well, I want to help you get over that. In fact, if that’s something that’s stopping you from using video to market your business and make more money in your business let’s fix that for you right now.
Hi! I’m Lynn Ruby of RubyMarketingSystems.com and I want to help you love yourself on video.
So, here’s why you do not like the sound of your recorded voice.
When you speak, people around you hear the voice sounds come out of your mouth and it goes into their ears. That’s how they hear you. Of course, right?
However, when you speak and hear yourself, you hear yourself in two ways.
You hear the sound come out of your mouth and into your ears just like everybody else.
And you also hear the sound that is being created internally in your body in all those empty cavities
So in your chest, your throat, your mouth, your soft palate and your sinuses – and any other empty cavities that you might have in there – the sound is reverberating and resonating and echoing inside there as well.
So you, when you speak, are hearing yourself in those two ways: externally and internally.
What this means is that you are in fact hearing something different than what people outside of you are hearing.
So here’s my question for you. All of your life has anybody ever once run screaming from the room at the sound of your voice?
No? I didn’t think so!
So, in fact your voice is find just as it is. You’re just hearing it differently than what other people hear it as.
So, here’s my challenge for you. I want you to record yourself speaking for 2 minutes. Speaking on a topic that you know very very well, that you don’t even have to think about as you talk about it.
Then, I want you to listen back to that 2 minute recording and listen to it objectively. And ask yourself, “is this voice, whether it’s mine or somebody else’s, absolutely okay?” And you will find that “yes”, your voice is absolutely fine.
